We founded The Old Kings Head out of a deep love for real food, for food that is fresh, flavourful, and authentic. Today, the business is a destination dining spot attracting both loyal locals and visitors from further afield. We have built a reputation for our meticulously curated menu, expertly sourced ingredients, and dedication to traditional techniques. However, it extends beyond just the food itself. The entire pub has been designed to offer a unique hospitality experience. Against a backdrop of eclectic features, period details and contemporary flourishes, our team works collectively to create, serve and enjoy excellent food and drink in a welcoming environment.

THE PUB

Set amidst the peaceful beauty of the Waveney Valley, The Old Kings Head Brockdish is a Grade II listed pub that blends tradition with modern functionality. Currently operating 11 months of the year, 5 days per week. Just a 10-minute drive from Diss train station, which provides a regular 90-minute service to London. Private car parking for 23 vehicles.

The Bar

The bar honours the traditional pub form. Exposed centuries-old beams, an open fireplace, a bar handcrafted from the felled oak of a local tree and reclaimed Victorian farmhouse flooring.


Behind the aesthetic lies a fully equipped setup built for service. Keg lines and hand pull cask beer lines offer a well-rounded selection of  draughts and real ales, for which we have received multiple CAMRA awards. The Book of Gin details the 115 gins featured on our shelves. The wine cellar, espresso coffee machine and cocktail bar complement our drink offering.

The Gallery

The gallery is an elevated level replete with period details. The original wooden floorboards and beamed ceiling, untouched by the hands of modernity, are a testament to traditional craftsmanship. Suspended overhead, a chandelier echoes the character of the space— refined occasion.

The Dining Room

A colour-inspired dining room featuring salvaged Victorian stained glass. Candescent lighting paints soft pools of warmth across wooden panelling, vintage tables and chairs. Our grand, extendable Victorian dining table complete with original leaves, seating anywhere from 8 to 20 guests, serves as the perfect centrepiece for private events and celebratory gatherings.

THE GARDEN

Nestled in the heart of the countryside, the garden is a picturesque retreat full of rustic Mediterranean character. Offering seating for 50 guests in the rear garden and an additional 18 guests in the front garden. An idyllic setting for sharing great food and relaxing with a drink— an afternoon tea, locally brewed ale or a refreshing gin and tonic.

The Beer Garden

A change of scenery from the indoor bar, the alfresco setting encourages guests to sit back and socialise under white parasols. By day, the garden is a Southeast facing suntrap—sunbursts dance across bright green foliage, filtering through the leafy shade of silver birch trees. In the summer months, grape and rose vines bloom and climb the garden walls, adding splashes of colour and a sense of nature's beauty. The fragrance of lavender, rosemary, mint and chives brighten the air. As the evening sets in, the garden transforms into a magical escape. Lanterns cast a soft glow, creating an inviting ambience where guests can linger under the stars.

THE KITCHEN

The kitchen is central to our success. Outfitted with ample professional catering equipment, three-phase power and a commercial LPG supply, our cooking operations are highly cost-efficient. Everything is made from scratch with the use of our Bottene pasta maker, Sveba Dahlen twin-deck pizza oven, and Nemox Gelato ice cream machine.

Our focus is to celebrate world-renowned ingredients and some of the finest culinary delicacies through a simple but delicious Italian menu. 


We believe in the value of carefully sourcing beautiful ingredients from the expertise of traditional local and European, environmentally friendly farmers with highly ethical approaches to agriculture.


We know food tastes best made to order; our chefs create each dish from scratch just moments before serving.
